One of the greatest transformations I’ve experienced is learning to live with a peace mindset. It didn’t happen overnight. It took prayer, truth, and intentional thinking — and the results continue to change my life.
In this second part of the Mind Shift™ series, I’m sharing what that journey looked like for me — and how peace moved from an idea to my daily reality.
Anchoring My Mind in Scripture
The web of peace connected my mind to good things that bring joy and comfort.
Philippians 4:6–8 (AMP):
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
Talking It Out with God: The Active Part of the Shift
One thing I noticed about this scripture is that it says: “Make your requests known to God.” To me, this is the most active part of the peace mindset shift.
God invites us to take our problems to Him — to TELL Him everything.
Over time, I’ve learned that God knows we need to talk it out with Him. We must pour out our feelings — not hold them in.
When I do this — when I truly make conversation with God about my situation — something powerful happens:
- 👉 A weight begins to lift.
- 👉 The burden starts to leave me.
- 👉 My heart settles and calms down.
How Peace Fills the Space
After pouring out my heart to God, something happens every time — peace arrives.
This is not just any peace — it’s the peace of God.
- 👉 A peace that reassures me.
- 👉 A peace that guards my heart and mind.
- 👉 A calmness that replaces the anxiety I was carrying.
There’s a deep inner knowing in this peace — things are now in God’s hands. Instead of carrying it alone, Christ is carrying it for me.
Keeping That Peace — Choosing Joy on Purpose
But it doesn’t stop there.
To keep that peace — I have to be intentional. Scripture tells us exactly how to do it:
- 👉 “Think continually on these things.”
- 👉 Things that are true.
- 👉 Things that are honorable.
- 👉 Things that are pure, lovely, and worthy of praise.
To me, it’s more than advice. It’s a pattern — a way of choosing joy and goodness over fear and chaos.
What This Looks Like in My Life
In my real life, it looks simple — but it works.
- 👉 I find peace brushing my teeth at night, then sipping a cold glass of water — there’s comfort in the routine.
- 👉 Sometimes I just lay in bed and breathe deeply, letting the ease of the day settle in.
- 👉 I might light a candle or enjoy a calming tea and let myself rest.
These small moments bring peace. They shift my mind toward joy — and away from the problem.
This is how I cast my cares on God in real life:
- ✅ I have prayed.
- ✅ I have left the problem with Him.
- ✅ Now I shift my mind to life-giving things — and let God work on the situation.
Leaving Space for God to Work
This is what faith looks like to me:
I leave space for the Omnipotent to move in my situation — and I rest in Him.
So I choose peace. I choose joy. And I choose to believe that God is in control — and I am in His hands.
Encouragement for You
If you’re walking through something hard right now, you can do this too:
- ✅ Pray — pour out your heart to God.
- ✅ Release it — trust that He hears you and will act.
- ✅ Shift your mind — on purpose — toward things that bring real comfort and joy.
It takes practice — but it works. Over time, peace can become your mindset too.
