Money Is Not a Personality — I’m Not Impressed by Wealth!

Money Is Not a Personality

Money is not a personality, but some folks wear it like a badge. They flash it, talk it, walk it — hoping it’ll buy them value. But it doesn’t. And it won’t.

I’ve seen the game play out since childhood. The wealthier side of my family loved to look down their noses, as if money made them better than the rest of us. Yet when a pipe busted or a wall caved in, they didn’t call a millionaire — they called my daddy. Every. Time.

Money Is Not a Personality — It’s a Pressure Test

I remember one time my cousin left me such a tight parking space, I had to get out through the garage and go around. When I came in, she looked me up and down and said, “Girl, you really need to drop some weight.” And I said right back, “Small folks can be sick too.” That shut her up. Real quick.

I’m not bitter, I’m just real. I’ve seen money bring out the best and worst in people — but mostly the worst. It becomes the personality when the person doesn’t have one. Money doesn’t teach you kindness, patience, or decency. It just shows off what’s already in your heart.

What the Bible Says About Chasing Money

  • Matthew 6:24 – “You cannot serve both God and money.”
  • 1 Timothy 6:10 – “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”
  • Ecclesiastes 5:10 – “Whoever loves money never has enough.”

Money is loud, but it makes a terrible teacher. It won’t tell you when you’re wrong or teach you how to love. It’ll just whisper, “You’re better than them.” And that lie ruins families, marriages, and friendships.

Let your heart be the flex — not your bank account.

Here’s another post I wrote about giving in secret, which pairs well with this one.
