To God Be the Glory: A Prayer Like Solomon’s
By ICEALEN™ | Tired But Thriving™
Before Solomon built his own palace, he first honored the Lord by completing the Temple. He gathered the people and lifted his voice in prayer. He refused to make the moment about his success; instead, he made it about God’s mercy.
“Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.”
That prayer moves me because it models the posture we need today—not pride, not self-reliance, but repentance.
When the Pain Is Too Much
There comes a time when the pain is too heavy to carry. When life breaks us, when our sins catch up to us, and when everything we thought we controlled slips away. In those moments, we fall to our knees and plead with God.
And the good news? He listens. In fact, He bends close to the humble and hears their cry.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
God Is Kind and Just
God is not waiting to crush us; instead, He stands ready to forgive. His justice is real, yet His kindness is just as sure. The cross of Christ proves both truths—the punishment we deserved, He bore; the mercy we did not deserve, He gives.
Therefore, when the weight of life drives us to prayer, we can be confident His Presence meets us there.
A Prayer of Praise
Father, today I lift my voice—not in defeat, but in praise. Thank You for hearing me when I pray. You forgive me when I repent, and Your mercies are new every morning. In Your kindness and justice, You remain near to me always.
Even in my pain, I choose praise. Even in my weakness, I honor You. All glory belongs to You, now and forever. Amen.
